Pons Sets an All-Time High and a $270m Market Value, Forty-Eight Days After Its First Pool

PONS reached $0.397065 at 19:36 UTC and is worth $270m, which puts a token with no product and seven weeks of history 140th by market value on CoinGecko's list. It is up 80 percent on the day and 625 percent on the week.

PONS, the token of the Pons launchpad on Robinhood Chain, reached an all-time high of $0.397065 at 19:36:10 UTC this evening and was trading at $0.3778 twenty-five minutes later. At that price it carries a market capitalisation of $270m on a supply of 712,104,762, all of it circulating.

That figure is the story rather than the price. $270m places PONS 140th by market value on CoinGecko's entire list, above a long queue of protocols with products, revenues and years behind them. Its first pool opened on 13 July. The token is forty-eight days old.

It is up 80.1 percent over twenty-four hours and 625.4 percent over seven days, having traded at $0.052 on 23 August. That is a rise of roughly seven times inside a week, and about eight times from where it stood a fortnight ago.

The turnover behind it is real and worth stating precisely, because a market value is only as good as the market that sets it. PONS traded $85.5m in twenty-four hours by CoinGecko's reckoning. $60.4m of that resolves to 30 pools on Robinhood Chain, across 118,346 recorded trades, against $9m of liquidity sitting in those pools. Turnover of roughly seven times the liquidity behind it is a busy market by any measure, and it is also what lets the price travel as far as it does in an hour.

It did exactly that this evening: $0.3292 at 19:05, $0.3922 at 19:35, $0.3537 by 19:49, and back to $0.3778 by 20:03. None of that is remarkable in a token of this age and it is not the reason to file the story. The reason is that the number on the other side of those swings now has nine figures in it.

Two pools do most of the work, a PONS/WETH pair and a PONS/USDG pair, each carrying around $20m of the day's turnover. The rest is a long tail, which is the ordinary shape of a venue this young.

Pons runs a launchpad of its own at ponsfamily.com. This paper reported this morning that one contract on Robinhood Chain has opened the first pool for 100,572 tokens, 27.9 percent of everything the chain has made. We could not establish who owns that contract and we are not attributing it here, to Pons or to anyone else: the chain's block explorer sits behind a bot check and no source we can reach names a verified contract at that address.

For context on the chain it trades on: Robinhood Chain has produced 360,648 tokens in 59 days and, of those past their first week, about one in 65 is still trading. PONS is in the surviving fraction, and tonight it is the largest thing in it.

Figures are read from CoinGecko and from DexScreener's pool data, both public, taken at 20:03 UTC. The chart above is the last twenty-four hours at five-minute resolution; its high of $0.3921 is the highest five-minute close, a shade under the tick high of $0.397065 recorded at 19:36.
