Robinhood Chain Puts Up Its Busiest Day Since July, and TVL Sets a Record

The chain traded $443m across its decentralised exchanges and cleared more than 3 million transactions, according to Decrypt, on the same week total value locked reached an all-time high of $642.7m.

Robinhood Chain, the Ethereum layer-2 network operated by the brokerage, recorded its strongest single day of activity since mid-July, with $443m of decentralised exchange volume and more than 3 million transactions, Decrypt reported. Decrypt attributed the surge to a mix of memecoin trading and real-world asset activity, the two categories that have dominated the chain since it opened to the public.

The capital base moved with it. Total value locked, the dollar value of assets deposited in the chain's protocols, stands at $642.7m, according to DefiLlama, up from $557.7m a week ago, a gain of 15.2% over seven days. That is an all-time high for the chain, set on 27 August.

The trading is concentrating in two pools

DefiLlama records $889.7m of decentralised exchange volume over the past 24 hours, up 7.73% on the day and 84.17% on the week. Almost all of it sits in one venue family: Uniswap V3 handled $358.0m and Uniswap V4 $351.4m, which together account for roughly 80% of the day's turnover. Pons V2 took $28.6m, Uniswap V2 $28.0m and Metric V1 $25.2m.

That concentration is worth watching for a practical reason rather than a competitive one. When two pools carry four fifths of a chain's volume, the depth available to any given trade is a function of how those two pools are provisioned, not of the chain's headline number. A total value locked figure spread across a dozen venues behaves differently at size than the same figure sitting in two.

Fees and stablecoins

Chain fees came to $5.7m over 24 hours and $80.2m over 30 days, per DefiLlama. Stablecoin supply resident on the chain is $726.1m, a figure that now exceeds total value locked. Stablecoins on a chain are the dry powder and the settlement leg at once, so a supply larger than deposited value tends to mean money is sitting ready to trade rather than locked into positions.

The composition question is the interesting one. Decrypt's framing puts memecoins and real-world assets in the same sentence, and on Robinhood Chain that is not an accident: the same network is being marketed as the settlement layer for tokenized equities and used, day to day, for speculative token trading. Both generate the fee number. They do not generate the same kind of user.

What a record actually settles

An all-time high in total value locked one day after the previous high is a thin distinction, and the seven-day gain is the more informative figure. A 15.2% week is fast growth for a chain of this size, but it is growth from a small base, and DefiLlama's series for the network is short. The 84.17% weekly rise in decentralised exchange volume is a sharper move than the deposit growth, which is consistent with activity being driven by turnover rather than by new capital settling in.

The test over the coming weeks is whether the deposits stay when the trading slows. Volume spikes on layer-2 networks routinely reverse. Total value locked, which reflects capital that has chosen to sit somewhere, is the slower and more honest measure of whether a chain has been adopted or merely visited.
